A decorative arts museum that was once the home of Marjorie Merriweather Post: well-known businesswoman, philanthropist, collector of beautiful things (including Fabergé eggs and orchids), and also a socialite. At the time Post, who was the founder of General Foods and the richest woman in the world, combined Japanese traditional style with a whole lot of mostly American colonial style. Covering 13 acres (5 hectares) of the property, her now world-famous garden has winding paths that meander between ten different garden areas. Today the house is a museum and the gardens are open to the public.
