#8 Jardin Majorelle, Morocco
Some of the world’s most exciting gardens have been created by painters, and this Moroccan garden designed by French painter, Jacques Majorelle is one of the best. Liberally splashed with a bold, vibrant cobalt blue color (now known as Marjorelle Blue), the garden was laid out in the 1920s. Features include marble ponds with gorgeous lotus flowers and water lilies, and an enormous cacti collection. More than 15 bird species have been recorded here too. The property was owned by French-Algerian fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent for many years, and his ashes are scattered in the garden. The garden now belongs to the city of Marrakech and continue to be a major tourist attraction for the region.
