The Golden Retrievers name comes from it’s purpose of breeding: it’s an excellent hunting dog, because it retrieves the prey unharmed, even from the water. The Golden Retreiever is also a popular disability assistance dog, a guide dog for the blind, and a hearing dog for the deaf. The Golden Retrievers are very friendly, gentle dogs, which makes them unsuitable for guarding purposes, but a really good choice for a family dog. It was the 3rd most popular choice in the United States as a family dog. Their coat is dense and water repellent and they really love water. The average price of a Golden Retriever puppy is around $1500.
