Amancio Ortega Gaona
Doesn’t sounds familiar? I bet you all know his business very well. Amancio Ortega is the founder and owner of Zara, the fashion company. He was born in 1936. Amancio is a spanish fashion business man. He owns the Inditex fashion group, and their most famous chain is Zara. In June, 2015 Amancio was ranked as the second richest man on the world by Forbes. His money is more than 72.3 billion dollars. He lives in Spain with his second wife. He is a good example for many people, because he started from zero. He only used his ideas, and economic sense to became rich.
He was the youngest from the four children in his family. He started to work, when he was 14. Amancio’s first job was a shop hand. He opened his first Zara shop in 1975. He said, that he wanted Zorba, but this name was already taken. Soon after the first opening, he opened other Zara stores all around in Galicia. As I mentioned above, Zara is the part of Inditex Group. Amancio owns 59% from it. He owns other brands, for example Zara Home, Tempe, Bershka etc. Ortega goes to the same coffee shop every day. He eats his lunch with his employees at their own cafeteria. He hates ties, and he prefers “simple” uniforms. He still loves to work in production, and design. There is a book about his success, titled, Amancio Ortega: From Zero to Zara.
